Cornell (3-10) 96
UMass-Lowell (5-9) 98 OT

The game was heavy on speed and offense with 27 lead changes and 19 ties. UML took a 2 point lead with 4.8 seconds to go, but Robert Hatter went coast-to-coast with a game tying layup at the buzzer.

Cornell missed its first 3 shots as UML took a 6 point lead with 2:46 to go in the extra period. The Red cut the lead to 2, 96-94, with 2:08 remaining, but missed its next three shots, including a Wil Bathurst layup with 6 seconds to go. After UML hit two free throws to take a 4 point lead with 4 seconds left, Troy Whiteside hit a buzzer beating layup for the final score.

Along with earlier road losses to Binghamton (8-6; KenPom #276) and Colgate (2-11; #292), last night's overtime defeat to the Riverhawks (#279) was one of the team's worst defeats of the season.

Cornell now finds itself at 3-10, ranked #263 in KenPom. With the sudden departure of sophomore forward Donovan Wright and the continued absence of David Onuorah and Jordan Abdur-Ra'oof, the Red are down to two front court players as conference play approaches.

With about 10 seconds to go in last night's contest, Matt Morgan went down with a knee injury. He did make it to the bench and locker room without assistance, but he was limping and in definite discomfort. Hopefully, the injury is not serious and he will be back for Monday's game at Albany or the conference opener against the Lions on 1/14.
