Final:
Cornell (4-12, 0-1) 75
Columbia 79 (7-7, 1-0) 79

Game tied at 67 with 3:11 to go on Gordon's fourth three pointer of the day.

Columbia then got an old fashioned three from Petrasek and a layup from Smith to take a 72-67 lead with 2:40 or so to go.

At 75-72, Smith was fouled and surprisingly missed both. Morgan hit two after being fouled on a driving layup and it was 75-74 Lions.

Coach Earl put Desmond Fleming in for defensive purposes and he was able to create a loose ball situation. Cornell came up with it, due to the possession arrow.

With 20 seconds and the ball, Cornell looked to take the last shot for the win. Unfortunately, with around 8 seconds, Whiteside lost his dribble and coughed it up to Petrasek who was fouled.

Over the last several seconds, Columbia hit 4 free throws in a row, while Cornell went 1-2. The Lions escape with a 79-75 victory.

Petrasek with a career high 31 (20 in second half), Hickman with 17 and Smith with 15.

For Cornell, Gettings had 14 (2 in second half), Morgan had 14 (all in second half), and Warren had 11 (9 in second half). Gordon with a career high 13 (4-4 from three).

Free throws were big in the second half, with Cornell going 9-14 and Columbia going 13-17 (Petrasek was 7-7).

Threes, Columbia was 4-16 (25%), while Cornell was 14-31 (45%). Rebounding edge went to Columbia, 37-31, with a 11-8 edge on the offensive side.

Good game for both sides, with Columbia shooting 50% for the day, and Cornell 46%. Cornell did a good job hanging in the game in the first half when Morgan was limited in scoring, and the second half, when Hatter went out with an injury.

Gettings and Warren held their own with Columbia down low, and both showed offensive skills.

For Columbia, Petrasek and Hickman were the difference, as they found a way to win a game that looked to be slipping away.

With close home losses against UMass-Lowell and tonight, the Red need to learn how to find a way to win these games in order to grow as a program.
