Bucknell’s Patriot League most valuable player Foulland has been a defensive and post-up machine all season. But many Lehigh backers felt Kempton, son of the former Notre Dame center and the Patriot MVP each of the last two seasons, had been unjustly snubbed.
This game did not reflect that opinion. While Kempton racked up big numbers -- 22 points and 17 rebounds – he was inefficient throughout, going 6-of-17 from the field up to the point Lehigh made a late abortive comeback with only 7:00 to go. . .
In the second half, Foulland was clearly the more effective player. He scored five quick points on interior moves as the Bison went on the pivotal 12-0 run to begin the half. Lehigh never threatened again.
