Not in love with zone but at what point do you give it a try?

Not sure. Flannery spent hundreds of hours practicing the match-up zone, where players have to instinctively switch men simultaneously to make it effective. If one man switches but his teammate doesn't simultaneously pick up the"open" man, then it can be disastrous. I don't know if ND even practices the match-up any more. Based on its lack of use, I suspect it is not a main focus in practice either.

If the team isn't prepared for the old Flannery type of match-up, I'd still like to see an occasional use of a basic 2-1-2 or 2-3, just to give the opponents a different look. Holy Cross and Lehigh have both struggle against zones at different times this year.
