    In response to Old Bear

The Bears have a core group of 8 players as the league season starts. Sullivan is the ninth man and played only 5 minutes last night. All 8 will return next year and includes 3 freshmen and a soph transfer. Under both Angel and Martin they have had leads against the toughest teams in the league but couldn't sustain for the win. Last week they went toe-to-toe for 30 minutes against a Yale team that is very talented despite the loss of two starters, and a complete 40 minutes last night. The Bears can certainly compete for an Ivy Tourney spot in what will be a wide open league. And the future looks very bright.

A frustrating aspect of the Phil Brown era ('71-'75) was the program could not sustain the talent level. At the time it seemed as though the school felt it would send the wrong image to be very successful in athletics. Times change. I don't suspect that will be an issue the time around, as the league is all on board.
