Unlike football, in which guys can drop out of school the spring of their junior year and play a medical redshirt year, in basketball a player has to drop out for a full year for a medical redshirt. The only player I can recall to have done that was the great Alex Rosenberg. Every year in football every Ivy has a few players who followed the redshirt path and got a fifth year.
