He had nothing left to prove at Penn and his chances were far better off reaching the tourney at St Johns than at Penn. He made hundreds of thousands of dollars last year? Can't blame him one bit.

How clear is it that Pitino even wants Dingle and/or Ledlum back. If not then he may have made as much as $500k in NIL money but it remains to be seen if Dingle made the right move financially in the long run by leaving Penn. He clearly did not help his pro prospects by doing so and if his goal was to play on the big stage of the NCAA tournament he failed in that effort also.
