Jamion Christian, who was BU's director of basketball ops for two years under Pat, was just named the new head coach at his alma mater, Mount St. Mary's. He replaces Robert Burke, former American assistant, who took a leave of absence in February after less than two years on the job - 19-42 overall record.
I was always very impressed by Christian and had hoped DP would hire him as an assistant. Instead he jumped all the way up to a #2 assistant job in the CAA (William and Mary), where he was supposedly a great recruiter. Then last year he was hired by Shaka Smart at VCU. Moving up the ladder that quickly while still in his 20's says something about this character.
Christian was a 3-year captain at MSM, playing 3 years for the legendary Jim Phelan and his final year for Milan Brown. Also started at SS for their baseball team. I hope that once the MSM program is strong again that the Bison might play them. After all, MSM is the second closest D1 program to Bucknell. Thus I never understood why the two never played when MSM had good teams.
