In response to gopenngo
Reed started under McCaffery at UNC Greensboro. He was an assistant at Lehigh for 5 seasons prior to taking over at the start of the 2007 season.
At 42, he is one of the younger coaches in Division I.
In his 8 years at Lehigh, he had 4 seasons with McCollum (or 3+ due to his injury in his senior year) and 4 without.
With McCollum, Reed was 86-43 (44-19 Patriot League) with one 1st, two 2nd, and one 4th place finish. There were three post-season appearances (two NCAA and one CBI).
In the four seasons without McCollum (seasons 1,2,7,8 at Lehigh), Reed was 59-61 (29-35 Patriot) with two 3rd, a fifth, and a sixth place finish. There were zero post-season appearances.
From what I can see, Reed was considered for the LSU job after the 2012 season (following the NCAA win over Duke). He was also a more serious candidate for the Northwestern job after the 2013 season.
With his youth, his experiences in the Patriot League & PA basketball and his recruitment of McCollum, there are reasons to consider him. However, his non-McCollum and recent results do not appear to make his a serious candidate if the goal is to make it to the top of the Ivy League.
