The game was moved to Sunday, due to a power outage throughout Ithaca and Tompkins County on Saturday night. The game was halted at the 18:31 mark with Yale leading 2-0. Sunday's contest resumed at that point.

By the 7 minute mark of the first half, there were 8 ties and 8 lead changes, with no team being ahead by more than 3 points. With just under 5 minutes to go, the Red were able to create a 7 point lead, 31-24. Yale came back with an 8-0 run to take a one point lead with 2:43 to go. By halftime, the two teams were tied at 36.
With 12:13 left in the contest, the teams were tied at 51 following 4 ties and 9 lead changes. A 9-2 Bulldog run over the next 3 minutes opened a 7 point lead for Yale. Cornell cut the lead to 1, 65-64, with just under 6 minutes to go.
After Yale extended the lead to 6 with 2:40 left, the Red got it back to a one point game with 1:57 remaining. After a Copeland layup for Yale, Morgan turned the ball over. With just over a minute to go, Dallier hit a jumper to up Yale's lead to 5. Yale went 4-4 from the line the rest of the way to eventually end up with a 7 point victory.
Yale shot 47% overall and 23% (3-13) from three. They did, however, shoot 82% (23-28) from the free throw line.
Two first years Oni 19 points, 8 rebounds) and Bruner (15 points, 8 rebounds) led the way. Dallier scored 11 and Downey added 10 points.
Cornell shot 44% overall and 17% (4-24) from three. They did shoot 91% from the free throw line, but only had 12 attempts compared to Yale's 28. The Red outrebounded Yale 36-29, including a 10-6 advantage in offensive boards.
Cornell committed 17 turnovers and Yale forced 10 steals. Yale committed 11 turnovers and Cornell forced 7 steals. The Bulldogs had a 24-11 advantage in points off turnovers.
Cornell was led by Gettings, who had a career high 28 points to go along with 8 rebounds. Warren had 12 points and 7 rebounds. Morgan added 11 points and 4 rebounds.
