I'm sure that it is a plus that the Tigers play a highly competitive non-conference schedule with trips around the country for recruiting purposes. They do need to win some games against quality opponents if they are ever going to have a shot to secure a NCAA bid if they do not win the IL Tournament. In the era of the IL Tournament, a competitive schedule is the way to go.

The one major drawback is that if you consistently lose games against quality teams, it will have some effect on your NCAA Tournament seeding if you win the IL Tournament but it is probably well worth the risk. Additionally, the team should be battle tested by the time that you play in the IL Tournament.
