Dartmouth will be honoring Dave Faucher, a Paul Cormier assistant from the Jim Barton/Walter Palmer days who went on to spend 13 years as head coach. His teams went 16-10 and 18-8 in the middle of his run, but he managed just one other winning season before being let go after the '03-04 season.
The Dartmouth administration raised admissions levels after the 1996 season without giving the athletic teams any additional help elsewhere. Both football and men's basketball went into an immediate nosedive, and both coaches (Faucher, Lyons) were eventually let go when they proved that they couldn't work miracles.
Men's basketball never really recovered...
