    In response to Columbia Alum

Last year Engles substituted players at a furious rate from the getgo. This year he has been loyal to his starting line-up to a fault. Hickman started off well last night driving to the basket and drawing two quick personal fouls on Yale's freshman big, Paul Anderson, which caused Anderson to be benched. But then Hickman missed his foul shots and just stopped scoring or otherwise contributing which unfortunately has been the case with him for a long time. Hickman is a very athletic player who is virtually unstoppable when he goes to the basket strongly against his defender. His problem has always been that he gets called for an excessive number of charges or doesn't convert his shots for whatever reason. On defense, he has never developed into the great defender many thought he would become. Hickman has the size and agility to consistently block shots, make steals, and otherwise mess up opponents. He seems like a great young man so I truly hope he finishes his Columbia basketball career in style.
