Tough to play the comparison game. Just too many variables. Army was down 6 to Duke with 11 minutes left at Cameron. They lost to Sacred Heart yesterday. Bottom line is you have to come to play for 40 minutes every opportunity. Element of human nature involved. Every game is also a contest of individual matchups within the game. How well do you defend if you’re big and the other guys are playing predominantly with 4 guards. So much preparation that goes into taking away what the other team wants to do. Question of whether or not you actually have the personnel to achieve it depends on how well you do/don’t match up. Shooting is sometimes just missing and sometimes the other guy being “all up in your life†as one ESPN announcer famously said. Also, if you’re confidence is shaky then the balls not going in (ie, Avi 2-11 FTA). We have confidence issues w/o Nate on the floor. Additional problem of our best defenders not being our best scorers. Issue there is whether that baked in or whether it’s just something we’re seeing in the short term. If it’s baked in then you have some philosophy and personnel decisions you’re going to have to make and play through. Bottom line is you have to come to play every minute every night or you have problems. How does FU score 40 in the 1st half and 20 in the second? How does Canisius score 48 in the first half? Did we really having any right beating Colgate down 10 with a minute left. How do you almost lose that game by 10 and come back and beat the same team by 29 two weeks later. Not easy being a Coach. Hope the guys are all getting along with their girlfriends...good a place to start as any ðŸ˜
