It's likely that he's shooting it so well because he's taking smart shots. Donahue really emphasizes good decision making in his system, and we certainly don't want players to be forcing things.
Yeah, this. Earlier in their careers Foreman and Woods were rightly getting critiqued for their shooting...they were forcing it up a lot leading to a lot of misses. They both learned over time how to pick their spots within the offense. A very good sign if Washington even in his freshman year understands this.
