    In response to penn nation

The Ivies will get two NCAA berths when the bottom on the league gets competitive. Now those games hurt the RPI. So we are testing the hypothesis that all of the teams will be able to get players like Mike Wang.

With respect to the Villanova game, Penn accomplished what the other three scholarship teams could no do, beat Villanova. In the 25 game streak the Cats played 10 games on the road to those teams without losing. Now, the weak sister in the Big 5 goes toe to toe with Villanova and wins. That puts Penn in the same bucket as St. Joes and Temple.

For the people who say that things will quickly revert to normal next year verses Villanova, consider that in addition to that very strong incoming class, Penn gets Betley and Williams too, plus a mature Mike Wang. So the loss of Booth and Woods is about even, which of the remaining talent would you rather have? I say nothing yesterday to pick the Cats over the Quackers.

Put differently, Penn is now a clearly competent team. They will be just as clearly better next year. They will be capable of beathing anybody next year.
