In response to Go Green

- Jones has three recruits on campus this weekend, and he was a bit miffed about how word spread so rapidly that he might be leaving for St. John’s.
“You have a conversation with people, things go sideways and everybody thinks you’re leaving,†he said. “All this misinformation because people are dying for a story. When you’re dealing with stuff like this, it’s important you keep it whole and the kids know you’re invested in them. The last thing I want is for the kids to think I don’t want to be here.†-
There's nothing wrong with the coach exploring other opportunities, but he shouldn't be surprised or miffed that word got out that he was interviewing for a Big East program in the nation's largest city that was suddenly in the national spotlight.
Also, if you don't want a kid to think you don't want to be at Yale, then don't take the interview at St. John's. A kid looking to go to Harvard probably thinks that there is a chance that Amaker could leave for Duke or another prestigious high major program, but otherwise feels confident that the coach will be staying at Harvard.
With Jones interviewing for a high major program that has serious problems on the court and within its leadership, it would be understandable for any kid looking at Yale to think that Jones might be tempted to go to any higher major program that comes calling.
