Unless Coach Jones interviewed for the SJU job in order to get leverage with Yale's administration, it says a lot that he intervviewed for the SJU job. Maybe not this year but perhaps next year.
In all likelihood, he would be an outstanding big time coach. He has many attributes and if I was an AD, he would be an extremely interesting candidate.
Over time, I would not be surprised if current IL coaches receive opportunities in the not too distant future.
