Hereâ€™s the bottom line: the Big 10 and the ACC are stronger top to bottom than are the Ivies are. Neither the ACC nor the Big 10 have Dartmouth and Harvard equivalent â€œeasy outsâ€ this year. My college roommate (who captained the Penn Tennis team senior year) insists that the selection committee did Penn a favor by giving us potential 2d and 3d round games against teams we have played and that we know we can (can not will) beat. I would also point out that down seeding the Ivies is not new. In 2007 Cornell was undefeated and #1 in both polls but somehow got seeded #4 and faced #1 Duke in the national semi-final (played in Baltimore in front of the largest crowd ever to see a lacrosse game in the U.S. Hopkins vs Delaware was the other semi-final.
