Here’s the bottom line: the Big 10 and the ACC are stronger top to bottom than are the Ivies are. Neither the ACC nor the Big 10 have Dartmouth and Harvard equivalent “easy outs†this year. My college roommate (who captained the Penn Tennis team senior year) insists that the selection committee did Penn a favor by giving us potential 2d and 3d round games against teams we have played and that we know we can (can not will) beat. I would also point out that down seeding the Ivies is not new. In 2007 Cornell was undefeated and #1 in both polls but somehow got seeded #4 and faced #1 Duke in the national semi-final (played in Baltimore in front of the largest crowd ever to see a lacrosse game in the U.S. Hopkins vs Delaware was the other semi-final.
