Yale beat Stony Brook 74-69 in OT.

Atkinson - 26 pts, 5 reb, 2 blocks
Bruner - 11 pts, 13 reb, 6 assists, 4 blocks
Swain - 17 pts, 7 reb
Monroe - 4 pts (all in OT), 4 assists, 0 turnovers
Gabbidon - 7 points, 6 reb, 4 steals

Yale played 10, but basically went 6 deep. Matthue Cotton got the most minutes off the bench. He was ok, but still needs some work.

Jones' teams are usually pretty disciplined, so it shouldn't be a problem if they don't develop a deep rotation.

Atkinson and Bruner played really well. Swain increased his workload from last year and seemed to get better as the game progressed. Monroe may not put up a lot of points, but he did a very good job playing a traditional point guard role. Gabbidon provide some offense, but mostly spent his time focusing on defense.

The announcers were really impressed with Atkinson, Bruner and Monroe.

Yale did a good job on SB's shooters, but was outrebounded.

SB is decent, but Yale was definitely the better team. The close score may have been due to it being opening night. If these two met later in the year, I think Yale would do a better job at dictating tempo and have an easier time.
