In response to flinder
Never mind, I just went and did it myself. An interesting (and unfortunate) trend during the McLaughlin tenure:
YEAR: RECORD IN GAMES WHEN THE FINAL MARGIN WAS LESS THAN OR EQUAL TO 3
2016-17: 5-0
2017-18: 3-5
2018-19: 1-7
2019-20: 1-4
2021-22 (so far): 1-2
So that's 10-18 overall, but 3-13 in the last three seasons. You figure that games like that ought to be toss-ups, so you win about half of them. So we're getting in our heads or making mistakes or running the wrong plays at the end. Someone with actually more time could look at each of those games to see if we were behind and made the score closer or if the other team took the lead from us in the final minute or two. Still, not a great trend for a team looking to make its way into the north half of the Ivy standings at some point.
I think fairness dictates that you count games like FGCU, where we hit three pointer near the buzzer to send it to overtime, but faltered in the extra period.
McLaughlin's "end-game" strategy worked then.
