Not all bad .... not all good. Soon we'll learn to paly a full 40 minutes of basketball and defend like out PL lives depend upon it.
With 5:55 to go last night, the score was tied (one of seven times during the game). Prior to that there had been 11 lead changes in a game that saw the Mountain Hawks hit .429 from the field (.462 from deep) while holdiong Navy and its sharp-shooters to .404 and .379 from three. The game was loss due to our sloopy play (19 turnovers), points of turnovers (Navy 19...Lehigh 6). Toss in two steals and a pair of threes by Navy in the final five minutes and the resulting need on our part to send them to the line for one foul shot after another and you have an 8 to 18 point scoring differnetial and our second loss of the young PL season.
On the plus side, you had Marquis Hall returning to form, scoring 20 and attempting 15 of the team's 56 FGAs. Nice to see....as was double digit scoring from White, Keefer, and Carrington. Again, we continue to score in the paint, out doing Navy 24-16. Our defensive pressure was apparent - if not for a full 40 than for 30 minutes, holding Greg Sprink to 5 for 19 shooting and only 2 for 11 from deep. He picked up his numbers, however, from the line where he went 14 for 15 and ended the game with 26 points.
On the minus side of the ledger had to be our inability to come down with the offensive rebound and collect some needed second chance point(4 ORs to Navy's 8).
After two games, we're tied with Holy Cross at 0-2 and looking up at the six teams ahead of us. BU and Lafayette tod the standings at 2-0 with everyone else sitting at 1-1.
Next up: Army (who beat HC yesterday) this Sunday at The Point. Game time: 3pm.
PS. The Lehigh Women are off to a fast start at 2-0.
