I have 2 contingency seatback tickets at Harvard if Penn gets into the tournament. Since they are kicking everyone out after each game (what happened to that 5000 seat arena Harvard was going to build?), will there be any place at Harvard where they will show the other game on the screen or does everyone have to go to a bar and hope that there are no Bruins games on?

Good luck?

Someone younger than me can suggest a spot in the Square. The most logical spot from my undergrad days has turned into a "craft beer and cocktail bar" with no tvs as I recall.

Grafton Street, Beat or one of the spots at the Charles, maybe?

You have to admit that the original "Gathering of the Clans" rationale for the Tournament has fallen by the wayside.

Why couldn't they play this at BU and have room for everyone?

No argument from me there.

Wait until we all travel to Hanover--which may actually have a better sports bar scene.

I'm figuring that the year the Tournament goes to Hanover, there will be a blizzard.

Tournament Question

Shouldn’t be hard to find one in Allston. I was on my knees in one watching the final out of the 1998 play in game between the Cubs and Giants (which was Joe Carter’s final MLB AB).

Mrs Nation, married to me a bit more than a year at the time, got her first real taste at the bar of what it would be like married to a diehard Cub fan.

What spooked her more - that scene or your reaction in 2016?

By 2016 there were 5 of us. At home. All really really happy. Crazy joyful hugs and kisses and screams.

That beats sitting on the floor of a bar praying Rod Beck, running on fumes, could get that one final out.

Mrs Nation, a born and bred New Yorker has been a real trooper. I always say that before marrying she agreed to raise our children in my faith, although truth be told she had converted well before the wedding. A trip to Wrigley did the trick.

Whoa, you threw me for a second there. Did she do the Wrigley mikveh and everything?

There is nothing in sports--and very little in life--like entering the Wrigley stands from behind home plate on a sunny early afternoon on a game day. It literally takes your breath away.

Dipping oneself in a mikveh also takes one's breath away, but in that instance one does not have much of a choice.

I've been to a spa where I went from a sauna to a plunge pool. It was indeed a religious experience...my oh my the shrinkage!
