Ironically, it looks like the recruitment of Brian Taylor's son may have played a role in this decision.

Doubt it had anything to do with Taylor but the starting pg will return next year after a medical redshirt. He's that very good kid who transferred to USC from Fordham. I forget his name.

Uh, no.
Harrison's final three were not Penn, Stanford and USC.

The Quakers are going to have a mighty backcourt in two years.

Someone on one of the USC boards pointed out that Moore had the worst PER in the Pac 10 last year - but that overlooks the fact that he was asked as a frosh to run the offense for a team that wound up half a game worse than Utah. A Lewis/Hicks/Moore backcourt (and a year with Cartwright too) is going to be something else.

When's the last time we got a transfer from a major conference?
I'm thinking Ira Bowman. Not that USC is such a great program today or that the Pac Whatever is all of that, but still...a rare get.

That USC team last yr(coached by the worlds WORST human being) was a disgrace. Got a chance to see them play in person quite a few times and this kid was literally the only one who played hard every possession. He has a ton of talent but yes he was asked to do too much too soon

Yeah, he also had the worst ORating among 77 regulars in the Pac12 last year.
I mean, he can't possible shoot as poorly as he did this year, so that number would probably rise on his shooting alone, but that's not really my concern. His FT Rate is incredibly low, and he used a very low percentage of team possessions. Those are more worrying to me.
At any rate, we'll see what happens. No matter how bad the BCS team, it's always nice for the Ivies to get a player that saw significant time in a BCS league.

Mike, USC was a disaster last year, it's hard to draw any heavy conclusions.
In today's Ivy League, where teams bring in 5 or 6 new players every year and have seemingly endless benches, Moore is low risk / high reward. He is athletic, has a good build, works hard on D, and has some skills that hopefully will eventually translate on the offensive end. The kid has range, maybe the form needs some tinkering and that's something the staff can help him work on next year.

I think that USC was so bad and its situation was so fouled up that it's hard to see these stats as being at all representative of his real abilities.
Penn's last BCS transfer was Ira Bowman, right? Utah was still in a secondary conference when Eric Osmundsen came over.

As a freshman on a so-so Penn team, Conor Turley's ORtg was an 84.7. As a sophomore on a terrible Penn team his ORtg dropped to 66.7. As a junior on a worse team it was 94.8 and as a senior on a moderately better team it was 105.1. (A 38.4 stretch from low to high.)
Belcore's ORtg hit a high of 114.4 as a freshman and a low of 82.7 as a soph, rising back to 108.5 as a senior. (A 31.7 stretch from low to high.)
I would not read too much into Moore's low offensive rating playing starter's minutes as a freshman on a terrible team in a tough conference. He got stuck in a bad situation - two of his teammates are also transferring - and wisely got out. USC's 87.6 team ORtg was 326th in the nation.
