Not that impressed by Oni as POY. I don't even think he's the best player on the team. The fact that four guys were unanimous first teamers means that Stephens and Copeland were tied in the voting. I'm thrilled for Dev making second team. It's well-deserved; hope he vaults onto the first team in his senior season.

Let’s just hope Betley returns at that level - or even better!

Wouldn't that be nice? Top of the cycle.
Unfinished business right now. I'm predicting 2 wins of course.

Barring the rash of injuries like this year, it's going to be a crazy league next season.
Penn has a First Teamer and 2 Second Teamers coming back.
Harvard has three First Teamers and an HM coming back.
Yale returns the POY and Bruner and Atkinson.
Not to mention that six of the seven 2nd Team/HM selections (only one of which belongs to those three teams above) are returning next year.
Whereas I was a little surprised that a team as high as the Top 150 got left out of the Ivy Tourney this year, it would feel as unjust next year.

And that's not even factoring in the incoming recruiting classes which in some cases appear to be stronger than usual.

Of course half the league's top talent will disappear in the October/November Bermuda Triangle vortex, and we'll all be back here next March talking about what might have been.

Do any other leagues have tournaments that only the top teams get into?

I don't think so.
Not sure if there would be scheduling issues but the league has gotten good enough top to bottom to include all 8 teams. There are no easy outs. I think a key reason is that there are no longer any mediocre coaches.

So why did we go to the 4 team tournament? Are we trying to stay "special"?

It's like the decision to rotate the tournament to all the schools. It is an attempt to balance "fairness" with competitiveness and provide some form of meaning to the regular season. As we can see, while the real angst moved from the battle for 1st place to the battle for 4th, there was real interest in the League from most of its schools right to the end. So in that regard, it's not like most of the mid-major conferences in which all the schools make it to the tournament, which often is held in a non-league venue far from many of the schools. Thus there is less interest in the regular season and almost none in the tournament. I think I would prefer that we give the tournament to the 1st place finisher, something we probably could do once Princeton goes to the new calendar and it will be possible to start league play earlier. But overall, it hasn't worked out badly so far....and I am one who still thinks the 14 game tournament was good.

First place finisher should get the tournament. Yes.

But the "league" wants the men's and women's tournaments in the same place. So that's a no go until the "league" prioritizes something else.
Since the top of the league is increasingly HYP + P more often than not, I'd guess that we could move to the 1st place finisher as the host when the league invites all teams to the party, so as to throw BCCD a bone. That's the way things work in this conference of ours.

A couple leagues drop the very bottom teams (e.g. the NEC tournament only includes eight of 10 teams) but none like the Ivy tournament.
