Looks like RJ Evans is going to be finishing his career at UConn.

What is still unclear is whether he is getting a scholarship from UConn. One of the articles yesterday only said he was guaranteed a roster spot. At the moment, thanks to all the transfers and players leaving for the NBA, UConn only has 10 scholarship players lined up for next year. If they don't miraculously add three more - which is very doubtful - they will have one scholarship available and likely will give it to RJ, even if he has not been promised one at this point.
2012-13 Attendance: 19 games and 8,354 miles driven.

Excluding RJ, UConn has only eight scholarship players lined up for next year. However, the Huskies are definitely down one scholarship for recruiting violations and may be down more when APR penalties are released next month.
This is important insofar as UConn may not yet know how many scholarships they can offer. Typically, they'd just go to 12 and take the APR penalty the following season. But as next year is as much a lost season with 12 scholarship players as 10, it makes no sense to defer any penalty that may be levied.
Add in the now pressing need for warm bodies in the frontcourt and it may well be that RJ doesn't yet know his scholarship situation... and, if penalties are laid down, may not for some time.

Given the fact that he already has a degree how would he affect their APR?

My understanding is that he would be counted just like any other player who gets one point per semester for staying enrolled and another for staying eligible. That is, unless he walks on. Then he wouldn't be counted just like any other walk on.
However, it doesn't really matter much whether RJ 'counts' or not as getting hit by the NCAA is much more about having guys who leave school in bad academic standing than having guys who don't. This is a result of 90% being a 'failing' score, meaning you need a roster full of guys staying eligible and in school to make up for a single guy dropping out to prepare for the NBA draft. Whether that roster adds to 10 or 11 is secondary.

Eric, how do schools like Kentucky stay NCAA eligible? They seem to have 1 & Done players who should negatively impact them.
