Doesn't Pomeroy adjust for postseason? I prefer KenPom, anyway.

Green Bay pulling away from St. Louis.
The Tigers, apparently, could be going anywhere!
Not so fast. The Billikens have made a late run and forced OT -- much like we did! What a great 2nd round for CBI after a sleepy opening round (though that's probably to be expected).
EDIT: Straight from GoPrincetonTigers.com
If St. Louis defeats Wisconsin-Green Bay in the last CBI quarterfinal tonight, Princeton will play at St. Louis Wednesday. If UW-Green Bay wins, the Tigers will go there, Boston University or Virginia Commonwealth.
Heh, not a lot of "clarification" there. BU deserves a home game, though. Its not like Princeton can promise a big crowd, and the Terriers went cross country and beat Oregon State. Matching up BU and Princeton would be lame, though, as much as it would help our chances.

Overtime in St. Louis vs Wisconsin-Green Bay!
What an exciting tournament this has turned out to be.

Let's check it.
Have the 2009-10 Ivy League teams now tied their record for most total wins in the post-season (4)?
1974-75 Princeton and 1978-79 Penn?
It might even be the first time that more than one Ivy team has won a game in the same post-season.
Way to go, Tigers!!!
Let's get a couple more!

I'm rooting for St. Louis...I don't want to risk playing BU in the next round. That would be unfair to both the top seeds (who deserve a better chance to win the tourney) and the bottom seeds (who deserve a chance to face top opponents).

Really great. You think these kids don't care about a "third tier" tournament? Giving their all out there.

I'm glad. This works out best for all the remaining teams. Another A-10 team for us to face, though...weird how that worked out.

St. Louis' only home losses were to Missouri State, Xavier, and Temple.
They split with Richmond, swept Dayton and Duquesne, also beat URI.
St. Louis' loss at Richmond resulted in the freak boxscore of the year.
Check out SLU's distribution of twos, threes, and free throws in this game:

Well... that all makes it sound not very winnable. If there's anything I've learned this week, it's that this Princeton team can beat almost anyone when they play their system well, so I still feel pretty good about our chances against SLU.
Luckily, they will be just as tired as, if not more so than, our team come Wednesday.

I'd hate to jinx us, but this game looks very winnable to me -- a 50/50 tossup. Like us, St. Louis is a great defensive team that often has trouble scoring points. And we have to be due for a hot 3-shooting night after the last two games (knock on wood). If we keep the score down, we might not even need many 3s. I actually feel slightly better about this matchup than IUPUI.
The Billikens were on ESPN's Bubblewatch for a while (until late February). Seemed a bit presumptuous, but I guess the A-10 really was that tough this year.

Pomeroy projects 51-47 SLU. Princeton 30% probability to win. One more stop and one more three and we win 50-49.
It does look like it could be one of those "first one to 50" games.

Most of us accept as a given that participation in this event helps recruiting. On the other hand, ESPN seemed to avoid all mention of it, even in the "crawl" of scores on the bottom, at least last night, not to mention any highlights. Perhaps there is a "competition" reason for this. Has anyone seen such clips on the Four Letter Network?

I don't think most of us accept that -- I certainly don't. I don't think it makes any real difference unless we win the whole shebang. That might pique the attention of a mid-level recruit deciding between Princeton and other Ivies/lowish-majors. However, I do accept as a given that this event will help the underclassmen prepare for a potential NCAA game next year (or even NIT). Like I've said all week, it's still elimination games away from home against quality non-conf teams.
We've all witnessed the importance of experience in winning games at the Dance, and while the CBI is light years away in terms of pressure and competition (other than VCU perhaps), it's also far better than no experience at all. Just two games in, Princeton has already learned to win against a very solid, RPI:83 team that matches up well against them, despite ugly FT shooting and another slow start. I mean, the Tigers pulled out their first double OT win since...? Anyone? Bueller?

Whatever it does, it can't be bad. If nothing else, it helps morale at the program. The kids get to match up against some out of conference competition. And attitude should help recruiting at least indirectly-- if everyone is happier with themselves and the program that will come across.
