A "progressive" candidate -- Jerry Wilson, founder of the Soloflex company -- has entered the Oregon governor's race. At this point he is drawing 5% or so of the voters, allowing Chris Dudley to open up a 47-40 lead:

Hard to guess how all this will play out. Fringe third-party candidates tend to fade as the election approaches, especially if the race between the other two looks close. On the other hand, Wilson has plenty of money to spend, and there is definitely a committed constituency in Oregon for some of his views ("2. I will pardon all Oregonians ever convicted of a 'victimless' crime and strike the laws forbidding the manufacture and sale of hemp, our state’s most valuable agricultural product.") If he and Kitzhaber get in each other's way, Dudley just might come away with the rebound.
