If Chris Young is at practice because he's been invited by the Tigers, and Hubert is attending practice because he's on an official, that's fine. What can't happen is any sort of directed recruiting attempt while he's there. But if he's just there to hang with the Princeton basketball team and Hubert happens to be at practice too - that's not a violation.

And yes, I feel dumber after having said all that.

Oh boy. No matter how it turns out, Hubert-palooza has been fun to follow.

(That said...bring it on home, Princeton, and pull a Flutie-like Hail Mary.)

F that. I want Hubert! Twitter has been increasingly buzzing about his looming decision, so hopefully it will be soon.

Do you mean "looks like you're in Hubert's final three?"

And why isn't that good? It's better than having been cut!

Why? Is this the rising tide brings up the other boats argument or however you say it?

There are two parts to every season and they determine the size and split of the pie.

Part I: Non-conference. We're all partners. We're trying to win as many games and look as impressive as possible to increase the size of our league's pie.

Part II: Conference. We're all foes. We're trying to divide up the pie we've won non-conference.

Rooting for Princeton not to get Hubert is rooting for a smaller pie with the hopes that you'll get a bigger piece of it. Rooting for Princeton to get Hubert is rooting for a bigger pie and chances at even bigger pieces.

So...tantalizingly...close. According to this "On The Trail" blog post at ESPN, though, Hubert hasn't actually taken his official visit:

  • ESPN.com Said:
Desmond Hubert, who is rated No. 13 on the ESPNU list of centers in 2011, is up in the air, according to Henry Jackson, his uncle and guardian.

"He hasn't totally made his decision yet," Jackson told ESPN.com. "He seems like he has it narrowed down. It's Princeton, Wake Forest and Maryland. We talked about it last night and he wants to do a little more thinking before he makes his decision.

"But, he's a young teenager and that might change tomorrow."

Hubert has not taken an official visit to Princeton but will likely do that the weekend of Nov. 20.

That said, since New Egypt is, what, 30 minutes away from Princeton, and he's already visited multiple times, I don't know how significant that is. And I wouldn't be surprised if Chris Young had a chat with Mr. Hubert anyway last weekend.

And since Wake and Maryland have no history at all of producing big men...

The best sign, IMO, is that Hubert clearly has not been deterred by the ACT score situation. He must be considering Ptown very seriously in order to look past that.

I honestly do wonder how much of our chatter recruits see. I mean, it's the Google Era now. Even if you're not in the public eye, it's fun to look up yourself or a friend to see what's there.

As for his ACT score, I think we have to remember that these kids are hardcore competitors -- on and off the court. Hubert probably wants that score up to where it should be, even if he doesn't choose Princeton. Just to know that he can do it.

Anyway, being in his final three, with Princeton as the last official visit means we get the final word. And it's right nearby so maybe he doesn't even need the official before verbally committing. Especially since it's the Ivy and he can always change his mind.

One would hope that this means that he is saving the best for last. Maryland bothers me though. I recall a few players over the years who were near Ivy and then opted for Maryland. It is a good school with a great coach and basketball program. But still, Des, if you're out there, you can't beat being a Tiger!

Let's not resort to outright pandering, ha. In fact, I wrote a post that sounded like a sales pitch -- and deleted it for decency's sake. I'm sure Hubert knows all the advantages and disadvantages by now, so let's just keep the discussion about news/buzz. On that note...

Maryland is waiting on a Top 100 6-9 C recruit named Adeji Baru. If he signs with Maryland, that obviously bodes well for us. Wake Forest has already signed a "3-star" 6-9 210 lbs. PF.

I think gokinsmen is representing quite a few avid followers of the program, all of whom are being tortured equally!

Actually, I was whining out loud about a couple of players we've lost to Gary Williams in the past. I doubt that Hubert reads any of these posts. Unlike us, I'll bet that he has much better ways to spend his time.
