Holy crap. This is a HUGE blow. I'd pick Sands as a definite 2nd Team All-Ivy, potential 1st Team. The Yale game at New Haven scared me, but much less so now.

Geez. I hope the guy's all right -- it's so sudden and without warning that it really does seem "personal."

the comments on that article are comical, they dont know what sport Sands plays

Here is a quote from Jones:
Walking out through the tunnel that led to the Mohegan Sun Arena floors to watch some of the game between Central Connecticut and Hartford, Yale coach James Jones had his head down, lost in thought.

And with good reason. His best player, senior forward Mike Sands, abruptly left the team just days before the Bulldogs were to play Quinnipiac.

“It was personal. Something he had to do,” Jones said briefly on Saturday before the game when questioned about Sands’ departure. Asked if Sands would eventually return to school, Jones said he didn’t know.

That makes it sound kinda mysterious. Like he's gonna walk the earth on a vision quest.

They had a six point lead at the under 8:00 timeout in the second half, then got outscored 15-6 down the stretch.

If a team Captain in his senior year left his team, I would expect it was something beyond his control. Hope the kid is well and everything works out. Sad story.
