As we speak, 54-43 with 10 minutes left in the 2nd half!! They're shooting 11-17 from 3, but have also done a solid job on defense and a great job on the boards to make up for a lack of frontcourt scoring.
All this without Sands! Win or lose, Yale should be proud. And wait till next year, when they get guys like Cotton, Duren, and Brandon Sherrod (Gatorade POY for Connecticut; built like a tank). Don't sleep on the Bulldogs...it's not just Harvard making a bold push forward these days.

75-67.
OH MAN. What an upset! BC missed a LOT of open 3s, but Yale is playing on the road without Sands. BC may not be an especially fearsome ACC team this year, but I'd guess they're a lot better than, say, Rutgers. Major congrats to Yale!!
Now I'm scared of that New Haven game again. Poor Eagles...losing to Harvard back-to-back years and now Yale.

No doubt this is the biggest win of the year for the Ivies so far.
Austin Morgan seems to be emerging as a viable option at the "2."

They'll probably correct this soon, but the AP's current headline for the game (via ESPN):
"Austin Murphy leads hot-shooting Yale to upset over BC"
The first words of the article? "Austin Morgan was 6-9 on 3 pointers..." No respect. No respect at all!

Wow congrats to Yale, this might end up one of the better years for the league since the bad teams arent so bad anymore

Donahue is probably thinking what did I get myself into? a loss would be ok but not to an Ivy league team, as a Cornell fan kind of feel sorry for him but he got paid

Yeah, is it me or are the Ivies already making an unexpectedly good showing a couple games in? In addition to the wins, there's some very respectable losses by Columbia, and even Dartmouth had a close loss to a non-joke team in UNH (picked to finish 4th in the AmEast).
Also, I think Joe Jones might be as embarrassed as Donahue. Imagine Thanksgiving at the Jones household: "Hey Joe, remember how you left for an ACC program...and we beat you anyway? Pass the gravy."

I suspect that meals with the Jones family have often been a tense affair, punctuated by significant amounts of needling and chest-thumping. But this Thanksgiving would be particularly amusing to watch.
All that said, I still think that Joe made the right move.

I agree. To be fair, Joe seemed to be in a resign-or-be-fired scenario. Not that he did a poor job, but Columbia just needed a change.

I really think that Joe had done all that anybody could have done at Columbia. The Columbia fans may go nuts in response to my saying this, but I think that systemic factors put a ceiling on just how successful a team Columbia can field right now, and Jones had pretty much gotten them there. As a such, if he wanted to keep his career moving forward, he needed to go elsewhere. If things go well for the BC program over the next few years Joe will be well positioned for a bigger head coaching job than he ever could have gotten by remaining at Columbia.
BTW, if you substituted the name "Liebovitz" for "Jones" in the above paragraph it would be just as true.

Joe Jones' inability to recruit or develop a capable frontcourt prevented his Lions teams from doing any real damage in the Ivy. And there's no one in the 2010 class to help either. On the bright side, Kyle Smith seems like an excellent choice for the future and maybe 2011 recruit Skylar Scrivano will finally be the quality big man they need.
