I guess the committee likes to mess with the matchups, gotta play UK after Cornell played them last year

Here's two things I never thought I'd say in a weekend:
"Congratulations to Princeton on their Ivy title."
"Princeton got totally screwed by the NCAAs."
Totally. Ridiculous.

It's hard to make a case for a great draw when you have two conferences losses, and one of them is to Brown.
When an Ivy team goes undefeated in conference--a different story.

Kentucky wins the SEC and gets a 4 seed with a Top 10 RPI? Come on.

UK is 9th in at least one RPI version (Realtime). So by that measure, seriously under seeded as a 4.
EDIT ADD: Glockner had this matchup, at these seeds, in his final bracket this afternoon.

UK walloped Florida today and Florida is a 2 seed. How is that possible?
Princeton fans who like Kareem Maddox should enjoy the game. Kentucky has a a whole team of Kareems.

Temple may be fairly seeded at a 7 but I don't think they got a decent matchup at all - although it's better than playing Florida St. Penn State has been playing very well down the stretch and psychologically Penn State thinks it owns Temple. I sure would like to see Dunphy get a W, however.

Yeah sorry Princeton fans... you got HOSED. Awful, awful match up. They're extremely athletic and they really should be a 2/3 seed. You never know though... the first weekend always holds some surprises.

They don't own them in basketball because they rarely play but they psychologically feel superior, meaning they're going to go into that game with the attitude that they're the favorite. And Temple's going to go into the game with additional pressure because they're so going to want to beat Penn St. in anything.

Have to pile on here. PU got jobbed badly. They were arguably an 11 and no worse than a 12. UK was no worse than a 3 and really a 2 when you consider how young they are and how much better they are now than they were in December.
I like the matchup for Temple, but Tucson is no prize. Worse news is that SDSU will likely maul the winner of that game in either case.
In general, I have to agree with the Bilas' and the Vitales of the world who thought this draw was the most ridiculous in recent years. In addition to the inclusion of VCU and UAB, you have some major overseeds like Florida and Syracuse and UGA at 10, who probably should have done no better than Clemson's play-in spot for a 12.
I guess the committee went for reputation over results way to often in this draw in a year when nobody is really all that good and some of the power conferences are either mediocre (big 11) or just plain bad (ACC save for Duke/UNC.)

It's funny that Penn fans are talking about Temple on the Princeton board, but check out the ESPN Site. Dunphy is listed in Pat Forde column as having the worst tournament record of all coaches in this year's Dance.

Yeah I guess that is the Penn St mindset but I would think last year's tournament really stung Temple as they finally got a really good seed and couldnt get a win. You would have to think Dunphy really wants this win and guys like Lavoy Allen who would not want to graduate with 4 bids and no wins

Bilas did bring up an interesting theory about putting VCU/UAB in that the committee wanted to put 2 more mid majors to avoid people questioning why do you expand the tournament and let less mid majors in. And also that the committee expects more from majors such as VaTech, Colorado, etc

Colorado was punished for playing a terrible OOC schedule.
Va Tech's entire resume was the win over Duke. And they turned around and played badly in the games after that win.

I think they must have decided to have two mid-majors and two-major conference teams in the play-in games three months ago but just never told anyone.
Would have liked to see Harvard get more talk. I still think they compare favorably with some of the teams that made it--including UAB and VCA. (And look at USC's losses for Pete's sake!)
Go Tigers!

I have seen enough of SDSU to believe they are for real. If they do not choke they stand a good chance of making it to the final 4 with that draw.
