Per Rivals, Svete says his top two at the moment are Tulsa and Penn State. Unclear whether he has an offer from PSU at this point, but he is visiting there within the next few days. Also visiting two other schools but I don't have the Rivals subscription to see who they are.
Svete as of a few weeks ago had offers from Bowling Green, Bucknell, BYU, Drake, Loyola (Ill.), Northern Illinois, Tulsa and Western Michigan. Doubtful we'll see him in Lewisburg in 15 months, although I'd like to.

Hope it was obvious that I was referring to the second named player in the post, and actually it was more of a geographically oriented comment since I know very little about the academics of the mentioned schools, though I presume they are not in BU's class.

Yes, it was obvious - hence my smiley face. Having said that, LU is certainly different from the academic schools when it comes to football graduation rates.

One note on Jack Whitman, the 6-8 or 6-9 center from Kentucky originally identified by KenZ back on January 8th. At that time he had offers from Duquesne, James Madison, and Bucknell - plus interest from Vandy, Tennessee, Georgia, Stanford, etc. I kind of wrote him off at the time, figuring he'd attract higher offers. However I just read on a blog that covers H.S. hoops in that area that he apparently still has the same three offers. If that is accurate, BU may be in the running, especially given that he may value academics - having a brother who plays football for Harvard and a Dad who played for Vandy. He did take an unofficial visit to Stanford at the start of the month btw, but no sign of an offer at this point.
Having said that, if he has not attracted any more offers since January, is that a bad sign as to how his spring went? Or is the blog giving out-of-date info?

Drone is 6-11, 275 pounds and looks like a pure post player with limited range. Has held an offer from Wright State since December. He is from the rural area of southern Illinois - just west of the Kentucky border. Described on the Evansville and Illinois State boards as a project.
BTW a few sites describe him as now being 7-0 tall - which would make HC70 envious whether or not he can play.

Andrew McAuliffe, who has a Bison offer, will be visiting BU and three other schools next week. I wonder if he'll be attending the Bison elite camp, which is on June 22nd and 23rd. McAuliffe is definitely one of the big men on my wish list. Seems that he might have some Muscala-like ability, although not quite as tall.

Lengthy article on another propsect with a BU offer, SF Anthony Dallier:
http://www.nbebasketball.com/w3/2012-0613/high-aca ...
Dallier currently has offers from Bucknell, Vermont, Davidson, Holy Cross and also Penn, Yale, Brown, and Cornell. FWIW, he named Bucknell first.

Last year's class set a record, by a HUGE margin, for earliest Bison commitments - two in January of their junior year and Hoffmann in early April.
A better indicator is when other current players committed - all in the summer prior to their senior year or in the fall of senior year:
Klebon - mid-July
Singleton - mid-August
Muscala - mid-August
Kaspar - early September
Brackney - late September
Willman - October 1st
B. Johnson - October 1st
R. Hill - early October
Ayers - mid-November

A possible offer to 6-6 wing Steve Spieth from Jesuit H.S. in Dallas (TX). A google stub about his unofficial visit yesterday to Nebraska says "Spieth currently has two offers – Albany and Bucknell." However, I am not a subscriber so I can't read the article. Can anyone access it?
Spieth, btw, is currently ranked as the #24 2013 player in Texas by TexasHoops.com:

Article on Svete's visit to PSU. He still does not have an offer from them, although he is attending their camp shortly. He also visited Bowling Green on the way. If he didn't make a side trip to Lewisburg while at PSU, that would be more confirmation that he is a long shot.

Been reported that Four McGlynn is leaving Vermont. Since this came as a shock to Vermont, most people are thinking that he is leaving because he thinks he can play at a higher level. He is a York, PA native and played with Ryan Hill on the same AAU team.
Any chance we can land a guy like this even if we have exhausted our 3 scholarship allotment this year?
No realistic chance. BU would have to free up a scholarship by non-renewing someone's scholarship (or have someone leave). Very unlikely BU would do that - and I think it may be too late anyway under NCAA rules.
With the number of players who transfer every year, I wouldn't mind seeing the Bison only give out three scholarships of the four available ones in the upcoming class - unless they can sign four real difference-makers. If not, hold onto the extra one to try to attract a really good transfer in some future class.
BU did recruit McGlynn out of H.S. and might be able to make a run at him if a scholarship were available.
Recruit Scoop is reporting that Four is going to Towson. I guess location really was the main factor because it certainly wasn't about winning after hearing this move
