Forgot to ask what change. Coach said this was the first tournament their guards guarded, so that bodes well too.

Miller's AAU team is Middlesex Magic, which is run by Mike Crotty, Paulsen's 4-year starting PG on the Williams team that won the D-III national championship in 2003 and runner up in 2004.
Crotty's comments on Miller are below:
Peter Miller (Northfield-Mt. Hermon) -- "Peter Miller stood out for the Magic this Summer as he emerged as one of New England's best 2013 prospects. The 6'10 center can run the floor, has great back to the basket post game, and he is a terrific weak side shot blocker. He continues to improve in all aspects of his game including his jump shot and post defense, and he drew a variety of division 1 programs to come watch him put his skills on display."
Miller reclassified to 2013 from 2012, so he will play for two years at NMH.

Can anybody explain how a HS student can "reclassify" from one year to the next year? Is this done by changing schools? Going from a public school to a prep school?
I thought that the NCAA was trying to stop this sort of activity a few years ago.

It's a very common practice when a player goes to a prep school. Makes the player a year older as a senior - which increases the chance of a scholarship. Many prep schools also allow post-grad players, who often are players who did not get scholarship offers or who need to improve their academics.
This practice also happens at parochial schools - but not so frequently.

The NCAA was not attempting to stop re-classification so much as it was trying to shut down 'diploma mill' prep programs. You would have athletes completing their senior seasons, dropping out of school (because grades are locked in once you graduate) and enrolling at a prep 'school' where they would 'retake' many of their core classes for higher grades, which in turn allowed them to qualify to play D1 sports the following year.
If I recall correctly, high school is now run on a 'four year' clock where, as soon as someone enters ninth grade, he has four years to complete his academic core requirements with adequate grades, though I do believe a single course is allowed to be taken or retaken after the fact. Combined with the governmental crackdown on the diploma mills themselves, the most glaring aspects of the problem have largely remedied themselves.
Of course, the changes still fail to address the loophole all too common in southern football hotbeds, which involves holding back one's son in middle school so he will be more physically developed throughout his high school career.

This still happens in some Pennsylvania hotbeds as well. I still remember how a player from my BU days, and especially his parents, were criticized by residents of his Central PA town because the parents wouldn't allow him to repeat 8th grade. That practice still happens in some places today in PA, Ohio, etc.

B89, if you've never read the NYTimes expose on these diploma mills, I reommend you take a look at this article:
http://www.nytimes.com/2006/02/25/sports/nca abaske...
One of the classic schools was Lutheran Christian Academy in Philly - a school that had no classrooms and no teachers. It had a gym and a basketball coach and nothing else. One quote about one of their former playes:
"Lee said that in one month at Lutheran, he received credit for five courses, earning all B's, although he never took a test, attended a class or received instruction.

I will never forget coaching track one year when we had a stud 8th grade sprinter. He is lining up against this bohemoth of a kid from a local football powerhouse school. The kid proceeds to false start getting disqualified. In his anger he then hops the fence, jumps in his car and drives off. 16 year old 8th graders do not look like they fit in.
