Am I the only one who loves this kid? I know his numbers are inflated for the Class he plays in and saying he could afford to put on a few pounds is an understatement, but I just love getting excited about those gaudy numbers.

I agree. If nothing else, it shows that he's able to put a team on his shoulders and lead them to wins.

Detroit Free Press list of top players in Michigan. Hass is ranked as 19th best senior and #32 of all classes.

Luke Ryskamp, who is a BU 2013 recruit, is ranked #6 of the Michigan juniors.

Five Above:
Forbes - Cleveland State
Price - DePaul
Norfleet - Cinci (football RB)
Perry - Western Michigan
Klein - Western Michigan
Five Below:
Lee - offers from Iowa, Iowa State, Xavier, Dayton, Baylor, etc
Albert - ?
Franklin - ?
Hibbitts - Samford
DeBerry - Detroit
I'm sure GreatLakesState knows a lot more about these players. Also I have no idea if a list coming from a Detroit paper might favor downstate players or do the reverse for the small-school upstate players.

137, that is VERY solid. There are no D2 or D3 players. They are all D1 players.

Yes - although the two players with the "?" beside them may not be D1. My quick check didn't turn up anything. I imagine GreatLakesState could clarify.
Hass played last night in a 68-25 blowout. He had 23 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists in what might have been 16 or less minutes. Pellston led 45-10 at the half, so I imagine he played litle or none in the second half.

One thing about Hass is that, unlike this year's frosh, he is not likely to hurt BU from the FT line. I stumbled upon the Michigan all-time H.S. records and found that Hass is near the Michigan record with 194 FT's in a year (out of 230 attempts), and his .843 percentage also makes the record book. (The leader - Brad Redford, who now plays for Xavier - hit an amazing 474-508 for his career.)

BTW if you look at the all-time leading scorers you'll find some familiar names - including one player who coached against BU this year.

It says something when a player can get 41 points, 8 assists, and 5 steals - and the headline says "Hamlin leads Pellston past Warriors".
Andy Hamlin, Pellston's other good player, had 22 points and 18 rebounds. That's a really good rebounding total, but I imagine he gets the headline partly because Hass's phenomenal numbers have become almost expected and partly because Hass' coach (who happens to be his father) wants to spread out the accolades.

Christopher Hass 2011-12 Season 12-15-11 12:49 PM - Post#114431
In response to Bison137
On the Free Press list, the next five after Hass, Lee has the offers mentioned and did have Texas offer before being booted from prep school on a rape arrest (charges dropped); Vincent Hunter has MAC offers and will go higher he's a junior; same with Denzel Watts; JD Tisdale is a junior with offers from Bowling Green and Toledo; Malik Albert would have mid-major offers, but no grades.
Free Press is fairer to out-state players than the Detroit News. Still, should've had Hass' AAU teammate Dontel Highsmith on there, he's a junior averaging 49 ppg! Like Chris, he goes back to his rural school after AAU, and it's a joke.

Christopher Hass nearly outscored Mancelona by himself, but made it a team effort with six assists, six steals and six rebounds to lead Pellston to a 84-49 Ski Valley Conference trouncing on Tuesday.
Hass’ 39 points were key for the 5-0 Hornets.

"In two games this week, Pellston senior Christopher Hass scored 70 points. That puts him at 1,960 for his career, meaning next week he should become the 34th boys player in state history to reach the 2,000-point mark.
At his current pace of 30 points per game, Hass, a 6-4 guard who signed with Bucknell, will finish his career amongst the top 10 scorers in state history, amongst legends of the Michigan prep game like Mark Macon, Drew Neitzel, Tory Jackson and Marcus Taylor. With a few tournament wins for Pellston, which is currently 6-0, and Hass could break into the top five.

137, you have probably posted this before, but what is Hass' shooting percentage? 3pt?

Hass had 31 points, 6 assists, and 5 blocks in a 48 point win. I imagine his minutes were limited.
Pellston is now 8-0 and plays another 8-0 team on Tuesday.
