This game was the one we were all hoping for on senior day...happy everyone got some time in a league tournament game. The Bryson threes and Hill-to-Muscala dunk really blew it open.

On Colin and the technical - what I saw - Colin got hit in the jaw under the basket, then retaliated by taking a long sideways swing at the Navy player. Naturally the Refs saw only the sideways swing!
Tonight, Muscala was double and triple teamed, so the rest of the team stepped up and hit shot after open shot. This is a healthy sign, on a night when the guy who has dragged this team through some ugly wins this year couldn't get open, everybody but Starkey got into the act for a twenty four point win.

Surprisingly the game is already archived on Bison Vision. Colin actually didn't take a "swing" at anyone - just pushed Smoot away after taking what appeared to be an inadvertent elbow to the face going for the rebound. Colin can be seen checking his face for blood immediately after the contact, so he obviously took a good shot.
Smoot is a very unpolished player, so the elbow was probably just due to the way he plays as opposed to being malicious. What Klebon did was basically nothing - likely wouldn't have even resulted in a technical - just a warning - if it was in the middle of a close game. The refs obviously just wanted the game to end with no trouble, so they tossed him.

I saw it on the All Access. Klebon got hit in the face in a scrum and took it a little to pertonally and shoved the other player and got T'ed. While they always penalize the second guy, from my look it appeared that Colin overreacted a bit to something that did not appear intentional.

Thanks for the info regarding the "T". I think Colin is a pretty mild-mannered kid so it was surprising the technical was called. When Colin arrived at the bench it appeared he did not agree with what DP was saying to him. Too bad it happened because it was the most productive few minutes of playing time Colin has had this season.
So is it up to the official as to whether a player is disqualified or is does any technical on a player automatically result in disqualification?
I am so glad to hear that Saturday's game is at 4:30. Bucknell did not have too much trouble with Lafayette in either game this season, but they are definitely a dangerous team with the way they can shoot the ball. Fortunately, they do not play great defense, so as long as the Bison continue the good offense from last night, they should be in good shape.

Good first game. Interesting to see Holy Cross go down to the Leopards.

Most types of technical fouls do not require (or even allow) ejection for a first violation - but the second one is an automatic ejection. A few technicals do carry a penalty of automatic ejection but Colin wasn't even close to committing any of the required acts. The refs apparently decided that he was guilty of "flagrantly (severe or extreme) contacting an opponent while the ball is dead" - which does carry a penalty of ejection.
As I mentioned in my post from last night, the replay makes it very clear he did no such thing. Most of the time what he did would not even get him an ordinary technical foul - let alone one calling for ejection.

Colin is built like a rock, and got hit with a flying elbow, not quite intentional but nearly always seen near the end of a rout. His reaction was a knee jerk reaction, he was his hard enough he forgot about the game and did what any kid would do. It was clear he got hit but the ref only saw Colin push back.
The team looked like they got a little of their zip back and are playing much better. Willman is playing great, and the rest of the team too.
