"I think this is one of the best mid-major jobs in the country," Elliott (AD Patrick) said.

I think the AD has been smoking something pungent if he really believes that. Now on the other hand, starting a coaching search by saying this is a crap job would be counter productive.

With their 2-29 record, it is amazing that their attendance was over 2,700 per game. Does anybody know what their average attendance was the last time that they finished with a winning record?
I think that the timing is strange. If they wanted to make a change, they should have done it 2 months ago.

The relatively high attendance figure is one reason why Binghamton actually could be a good job - although not quite as good as their A.D. suggests. Still, however, there are some good reasons why it should be a fairly attractive job for someone:
- Very good local support.
- Fairly good academic school, but likely not high standards for hoops players.
- Very nice arena that seats over 5000.
- Incredibly easy act to follow, i.e. two consecutive disastrous coaches.
When Bing's teams were better, they used to draw close to 4000 per game. And while the timing of the firing is not ideal, I think it was a reaction to a couple of freshman starters deciding to transfer out plus a couple of key assistants recently leaving.
2012-13 Attendance: 19 games and 8,354 miles driven.

Binghamton hired the Rider head coach, Tom Dempsey, the other day as their new head coach. His Rider salary (less than $150,000) was a lot lower than Bing will be paying him, and Rider plays in the equivalent of a H.S. gym - as opposed to Bing's nice arena.

I love Rider's equivalent of a H.S. gym. Fond memories of that rowdy hot-house in the 2005-06 Bison season opener. On their way to an eventual top 25 ranking. Wow.

If he's the Tommy Dempsey I think he is, he's originally from Williamsport.

Dempsey has a lot of Central PA roots:
- Played for and graduated from Susquehanna
- Masters from Bloomsburg
- Assistant at Susquehanna
- Head Coach at Wyoming Seminary
- Head Coach at Keystone College (D3)
- Head Coach at Lackawanna (Junior) College
BTW, Keystone and Bucknell have one big thing in common in their athletic history. Anyone know what it is?

Aside from both having orange and blue as colors, both also had Christy Mathewson as a player and have fields named after him. Keystone was, however, a secondary school when Mathewson played the. BTW, the Keystone field is for baseball.
