My suggestion of a starting line-up would be McCarthy, Mia, and Walker up front. I obviously have not seen Mia yet. But I like the shot blocking and rebounding of McCarthy and Walker. I'd stay big with a healthy Halpern at shooting guard. He also has the ability to pass and make shots for himself. McGonnagil is the point. Sullivan and Albretch off the bench, especially to help bust a zone D. I'm curious to see what the rook from St. Andrews can bring to the front line arsenal. I've heard mixed opinions.

Up front, I would put whomever can block the most shots and grab the most rebounds. This team isn't going anywhere with a Defensive Rating near 110.
I like the offensive talent on this team, but it held 10 of 31 teams under a 100 offensive rating last year. And the Pomeroy ranking of those teams was: 301, 202, 122, DIII, 295, 295, 333, 215, 291 and 277.
I've seen too many teams like Brown's 2012-2013 squad, and the story usually ends with some awesome upsets, but generally inconsistent and disappointing results despite having offensive firepower that might include three All-Ivy selections. And then you look at the defensive metrics, and you quickly see why.

It's interesting. This is the 2nd time I've heard someone refer to Halpern as something other than a 4. I'm just not sure he's quite that versatile - maybe he could be for the 3, but certainly not the 2.
We also may be expecting too much out of Maia, who has yet to play a minute of college hoops and will be more than a year out of his last game in a uniform.
If you put Halpern at the 3, it gets interesting - and big. You could go McCarthy and probably Maia, with Halpern at the 3, plus Sean and Albrecht. This group would be big and could shoot it some, but it would also be pretty slow.
The traditionalist would say that it's Sean, Albrecht, Sullivan, McCarthy and Halpern.
But obviously, a lot would depend on how Mike wants to run the offense. Remember, one of his mentors (Miller) used to play similar to a 4 guard with Pat Powers at the 4. So you never know.

Yes, I think it is far more likely that Brown plays smallish than the big lineup originally suggested. You just don't see anybody play that way anymore, at least in the Ivy League. I think Brown would get killed, frankly, playing with 3 bigs AND Halpern, who in the Ivies qualifies as a big. They couldn't guard the smaller, quicker guys who play the 2 and 3 spots in the league.
So I agree that the question is more whether they go big (but not quite so big) with 2 out of McCarthy, Walker, and Maia and slide Halpern to the 3, or only start one of those three in the traditionalist lineup suggested.
And I apologize for being the obligatory Penn fan butting in on a Brown conversation.

Exactly... it's like Nintendo's Ice Hockey - you play too many big, slow dudes, then the skinny, quick dudes skate circles around you and score early and often. Granted, if Brown's not going to stop anyone anyway, maybe it's better to just play the best chuckers you've got.
