BU Center Wants To Be More Dominant

MM spent the last couple of weeks at an NBA pre-draft training camp at the IMG Academy in Florida. Should help him elevate his game another level or two.

I like that Mike spoke with a nutritionist. 15-20 lbs of muscle would make him an even more dominant player.

The author of this piece seems to be a lot more knowledgeable about the PL scene than many. He is aware that McCollum is not a lock for POY and that Muscala won it in 2011. Others seem to think McCollum is guaranteed the award. I can't confirm it but I have heard info that the POY vote both last year and two years ago was very close between the two.

There is not really any new info in this article, but it is nice to see the PL getting more press coverage.

Maybe Bill will do an article on Cam next. If I recall correctly this was his second stint at Chris Paul's camp and prior to that he was in New Orleans training with a few Hornets.

Ryan Hill is also back on campus working out and taking a class according to Twitter

Yes, this was his second stint. Among the 20 players attending was CJ McCollum. Also Philly PG Maurice Watson, who had serious interest in Bucknell (and Penn) but apparently didn't have the SAT score. Ended up at Boston U. Others included UConn's Boatright, Syracuse's Triche, Missouri's Phil Pressey, and Duke's Seth Curry.

Between McCollum and the two Mizzou Tigers, he gets to practice against three 2012-13 opponents (assuming the predicted Missouri match-up is correct).
2012-13 Attendance: Nine games (5-4) and 16,206 miles traveled

In my view Muscala going to the IMG camp is more a reflection on Mikes parents rather than Mike. They are following up on doing what they are doing very well-being Mikes number one supporters, even through his college years. Its nice to read about parents doing well for their kid who in his own right has already done well for himself. Contrast this with the Todd O'Brien situation where there has been rough stuff throughout his college years, and the transfers, but the role his parents are playing is being his supporter with lawyers and all to get him to play ball at yet again another school after St. Joes.
But I'm not a big fan of Bradenton, with the camps and all. If I go to Bradenton and feel like a little Tennis I could drive up to the Bolleteri Tennis Academy with raquet and shorts ready for a set or two. They would either shoo me away or send me to the kitchen to help out there. If I feel like a bucket of balls I could swing by the David Ledbetter range and ask for a bucket and they would give wonder and say the range is closed. If I had 10,000 to spend both places would welcome me and give me a tip or two. IMG's camp would probably have me as well, send me through the mill without even meeting an agent in waiting and that would be that.
But why go to Bradenton when Sarasota is so much closer and a high quality place in its own right. You've got great white sand beaches, women in bikinis who own condo's that want to get to meet you. There's yachts. there a Ben and Jerry's store for all the nutrition one needs.
I think Bradenton is a Minnesota thing. While I have never been to Minnesota I know by default the weather has to be incredibly fantastic and Minnesota is probably a type of best kept secret place. But there must be something in the water of the 10,000 lakes there that make these up north northerners go to Bradenton instead of Sarasota. The parents are just in typical Bucknell fashion parenting until the very end with the same dedication they had in the beginning. Most Bucknellians seem to end up in Sarasota if they have their druthers.
I have seen Muscala play and he has incredible touch with the basketball. He seems to get in the right spot and then puts the ball up with his lanky body and it usually goes in without touching the rim soft as a baby. He has a love of the game. He wouldn't be a star in the NBA, but would make the star on the team shine brighter. He may not even be a starter, but in my view would fit in his role like a glove, one of those indispensible pieces of the puzzle on a high caliber team.
