I just read that in 2013-2014, both Syracuse & Pitt are leaving the Big Least for the ACC. With a rumored buy out of $7.5 million each to leave, the ACC pastures must be VERY green.

HC Faithful, the Big East needs teams!

I wonder if if both teams will be banned from the Dance this year by the conference. I do not see it happening, but it would be interesting.

The buyout for any school to leave the Big East is $5M with a 27 months waiting period. However, both universities opted to pay an additional $2.5M to accelerate that by 12 months and join July 2013. What's the rush?

The ACC schools get $17M per year from television contracts. The Big East is at $3M right now (for football members). The Big East is in the process of renegotiating their contract, but there's no way it will come close to what the ACC gets. So $2.5M is a pretty smart investment to get out a year earlier.

Now, Notre Dame is joining them ... sort of. According to ESPN Radio, they are joining the ACC in everything except football with football being required to play 5 games per year against ACC schools.

If I heard correctly, the Big East voted to increase the exit fee for remaining schools to $50 million!!! Is that correct?

If correct, I do not see any more schools leaving in the near future.

Are you sure it wasn't the PL?

63, that brings up a good point. Does the PL have an exit fee?

Lancelink, you must be confusing this with the HC Board. There is no contempt here. I was just wondering.

Yo 89, Link was humorously saying the price that departing members pay would be our eternal contempt for their decision to depart.

Do you guys think the league will schedule it so teams go to Boston and HC on the same trip, or is that too much time away from campus in one swoop?

too much time away unless they change from the Wednesday/Saturday based scheduling. maybe we should go to Thursday or Friday / Sunday. might get some better refs that way as well.
