When are we going to hear something? The current crew is recruiting, which suggests that Coach Allen is staying???

Are you kidding? Once no move was made at the NCAA tournament, when all the coaches were being hired and he was allowed to go recruit, it became obvious that there was no move being made this year.

I'd be more upset if a change is made at this point than I was at one not being made before.

I'm inclined to agree. Making a move at this point in the summer would be suicide.

Would you rather make a move in a week or next April after another 20 loss season?

I don't know that hiring a new coach now precludes another 20 loss season.

From a hiring process standpoint, they'll have a better sense of available candidates next April.

No matter who the coach is will not matter on a team with only 2 Ivy League level ready players. We lost over 20 the last 2 years with much more talent. It is a build situation, which should have resulted in a new coach in March, but because we had a lame duck AD, did not happen. So Jerome has been out recruiting hard, and will not be fired at this point. Only time will tell if his recruits are of a level which will improve Penn in future years.

I had no idea this was a done deal. I don't recall seeing a whole lot of teeth gnashing over the fact that we are stuck with a coach who has been a disaster. Of course, I focus more on the off topic board where we gnash over the Mets and Jets.

I thought all gnashable teeth were ground to dust when it was revealed that Bilsky would make no moves before his retirement and that obviously meant there would be no change.

I'd say there was pretty significant gnashage at the end of the season and for a few weeks thereafter. But then it became clear that Jerome wasn't going anywhere. At this point, everybody's so disgusted we're all just curled up in fetal position and trying to get interested in the World Cup.

That sounds about right. I guessed I missed the part about it being so clear that Jerome was coming back. I think the denial part of my brain was activated. If this wasn't just sports, I'd be pretty upset.

New Coach Updates???

I got a brief endorphin rush from San Antonio's complete disarticulation, cremation and burial of Miami.

It didn't last, though. Now I'm stuck hoping that Dolan the ***** doesn't find a way to sabotage Phil Jackson's new master plan, whatever that turns out to be.

Hopefully it's an Evil Master Plan. That would be better.

I, too, enjoyed watching SA play. They're really the only pro team I've found watchable in recent years.

If Oklahoma City is ever going to make another serious run before they have to break up the Durant-Westbrook-Ibaka triumvirate for financial reasons, they're going to need a new coach. They don't have an offense, and you can't win in the playoffs by running isolation plays for your two best scorers and hoping for the best. Especially if you also have three guys on the floor who aren't even looking to be offensive threats. Way too easy for an NBA playoff team to defend.

They could also use a real point guard. Reggie Jackson has potential, though.

Miami has won two titles with that formula.

Hockey playoffs were fun. World Cup is a lot of fun.

And then there's Kris Bryant.

Yeah, we were all so $%^*&( about what happened (or rather, what didn't happen) once the new Penn DA was hired, and who didn't even bother to show up for her press conference.

So most of us knew all too well that the die was cast, and moved on.

They've also lost in the Finals twice. I guess you could say that the strategy works, unless it doesn't. Anyway, Miami has generally had at least one shooter on the floor other than their main stars. Bosh and Ray Allen aren't exactly chopped liver, nor was Mike Miller when they had him. There wasn't another shooter OKC could put on the floor at crunch time who really scared anyone.

Has anyone done better than Miami over that time? Are you going to get on them for losing twice in the Finals--the second time being when both Wade and Allen were shadows of their former selves?
