Anyone have a read on whether we are an actual possibility here? Apparently, Jerome is his Godfather. Can't remember the last player ranked as highly who ended up attending...

Considering he limited from 20 to 6, I assume we are in the running.

Could just be throwing a bone to Jerome. I hope not.
Was asking to see if anyone had actual insight beyond mere assumptions.

That was my read of the article as well. It seems like the only reason Penn was still on the list at all was because of his godfather, but I would be absolutely shocked if he went with Penn in the end.

Levien Alston should be going to Columbia or Harvard.

Speaking of which, I can't wait until top Cubs prospect Addison Russell hits Wrigley either next year or in 2016.

Levan: Coach, I don't know about playing at Penn.
Jerome: Levan, I'm your godfather. We are going to bring Penn back together. My man.
Levan: Sounds good coach, but dad is pushing me to go to Temple
Jerome: Fran's a great coach son but don't you want to play at the Palestra. You'll be a 4 year starter, all Ivy and some day all Big 5. You will rule this team for 4 years. Levan, we can bring this program back to prominence. I need you son.
Levan: I love you Coach. Where do I sign?

Sounds like the conversation Dunphy probably had with Jerome in 1990, only eliminate the GF angle and substitute St Joe for Temple.

Maybe he should make Levan an offer he can't refuse.

They don't mention an official visit at Penn, which would seem not to be encouraging, unless, of course, they are confusing Penn and Penn State.

Not that that's ever happened before.
I'll say this: while I think it's unlikely we'll end up getting this kid, it's still possible. If we actually do manage it, Jerome Allen will have shown himself to be a nearly superhuman recruiter. That being the case, it creates an interesting challenge for the athletic director: how do you keep this guy as head coach, despite his obvious deficiencies with respect to player development and organizational skills?

Don't think it matters much but ND just got a commitment from a 4 star shooting guard last night. Of the 6 finalists, Penn is the only one without a big time commit at his position.

The team went 16-8 ?, judging by the schedule they had we will need more then this to help the team.

Article in this morning's Philadelphia Inquirer about Levan Alston's choices no longer lists Penn (though it does list Penn State). Here is a link:

Disappointing, but not surprising. Even under the best of circumstances he would have been a hard one to get.

Great (and essential) recruit for Dunphy, though.
