So, who had Cornell as the first Ivy to 2 wins?
Cornell closed on a 52-29 run over the last 27 minutes. I think there were times last season where teams had 29 by the first MTO. Okay, maybe the second.
'gate scored 52 points on 70 possessions according to the live stats. Cornell held Colgate to 1 offensive rebound and hit 13 more FT's.
I'm getting the sense that Cornell's big problem this year will be scoring. The defense is still very susceptible to good ball movement as the guards overplay everything, but Miller and Onuorah just don't give up easy lay-ups. The Big Red has held two opponents to under a point per possession already. Offensively, we're still threes and dribble penetration and little else.
The interesting thing about the line-up is that freshman Wil Bathurst played 18 minutes and was on the floor most of the final 5 minutes. Sophomore JoJo Fallas also played 13 minutes (the same as Hatter). Hatter's usage rate was a spectacular 36%, so you knew when he was on the floor.
10 wins looks very doable. Bingo, UMass-Lowell, Howard and the D3 game are very winnable. That's six. Split with Dartmouth and Penn, eight. You only need a pair of wins over the rest of the league slate and 5 games against KenPom 150-250 squads.
You don't think that would be enough to bring Courtney back, do you?
