I agree that the timeout was already called. It certainly looked to me like Allen had to be told Auger was hurt and coming out of the game. Not sure what he saw that led to the timeout.

And I'm guessing no one bothered to ask the coach this question?

I'm glad there were some positives but if we really do have some young talent I'm hoping we have someone on staff to develop it.

Exactly right.

I also wonder how many of these young guys are here for JA and staff and would leave if he was let go and the program went in another direction.

A couple of rather obvious observations:

1. Auger needs more minutes
2. Woods is far more ready than Foreman
3. Dylan Jones will help over time as the other "5"
4. Tony was the real deal Saturday night even though he struggled with his shot.

Agree with you Asia. The most apparent of which to me is that Woods is much more ready now. It's kind of surprising he isn't already in the starting lineup based on what we've seen on the court.

What is obvious is that we need a different starting lineup. The present starting lineup has put us in a deep hole right out of the starting gate in all 3 games.

So, I saw Auger on Locust today.
Naturally he had a walking boot on his right foot

Naturally. Of course, we have to wait for the SID to issue a statement before the game tomorrow for it to be official.

Jeff, I have a question for you, especially if I remember correctly you worked for Will Carroll at some point.

Is there any study showing that players with an injury history in one part of the body are more likely to injure other parts? I think Auger's prior injuries were in the shoulder. Lower leg injuries wouldn't be cascading from the shoulder so I assume this latest injury has to be something completely unrelated. It wouldn't surprise me that there is a correlation, just curious about any evidence.

20Penn14, next time please go up to to Mike, tell him what a great game he played, then ask him what happened to his foot. It's the only way we'll find anything out. Thanks in advance.

I seem to recall something called a "student newspaper" that would "investigate" and "report" on goings on around campus.

I also remember when gas was a buck a gallon.

Good one, 10Q.

Apparently his name is pronounced "owes-yer", not "aw-ger," at least according to the public address announcer at the game; one would assume that came directly from the kid or his family. But the message never got to the radio guys who continued to use the aw-ger version throughout.

Today's DP.

Against the Leopards, freshman forward Mike Auger stood out, putting up 18 points and nine rebounds to lead the squad. His tenacity on the offensive glass drew the praise of coach Jerome Allen and helped Penn stay in the game.

However, he left early with an injury and the team is unsure of his status moving forward.

“I would hope that he’s physically ready to go,” Allen said. “It is of the utmost importance that he spends as much time as he possibly can connected with the group on the floor.

“Hopefully he’s fine, but it hasn’t been determined yet.”

Announcers on ESPN3 didn't specify the injury Auger sustained, but said he was expected to be out "4-6 weeks". Sounds like a fracture.

That said, wow... can we ever catch a #%$@ break? Hope he heals up quickly...

I'm assuming someone like graham told Donahue.

Regardless, hopefully Auger can get some ivy road games under his belt heading into next year.
