Up 38-21 at the half.
Navy is not a good team. They didn't help itself with two front court starters picking up multiple fouls in the first few minutes.
Penn only gave up 7 fouls and 4 turnovers.
Made 8 of 9 Free Thows.
Sam Jones actually getting playing time and 2-3 three-poiners.
Hicks has 9 pts, 0 turnovers, 4 assists and 0 fouls.
21-12 advantage on the boards.
Started 0-7 for three-pointers before hitting the next 4 in a row. 4-11 for the half.
Unfortunately, Greg Louis picked up 2 fouls in the first 7 minutes and sat most of the half. Whenever DNH went out for a rest, Sam Jones came in for a psuedo-4 guard lineup.
DNH picked up 2 cheap fouls in the last 2:45.
Hopefully, the Quakers keep it going and get the first win of the season.

If that Jones 3 at sub 5 minutes is indicative of his game, maybe.

Despite recent history, I am doing my best to think positive thoughts.
Perhaps I'll go out in the back yard where I'll trap and sacrifice a bunny rabbit to appease the basketball gods.

No, but there's the neighbor's kid. He definitely has some goatish qualities.

Navy is not a good team.
Post of the year. This is a painful game to watch--and we're winning.

There's clearly some major sacrifices required for this result. Hard to imagine that we can be up 21 when shooting 48%. But we're killing them on the boards, which is pretty much a first for a Jerome Allen team. Hopefully, we will take something away from this game that we can apply to the next two dreadful teams we play.
But it looks like I'm out a pinky--oh well, who needs them anyway?

It is when the other guys can't shoot, we've hit some threes, have dominated the foul situation and converted most FTs.
That said, this is not really a game tape you'd want to save, other than the obvious if a W results.

I gotta believe Howard will be seeing some pine after trying that botched Harlem Globetrotters move. Oy.
In any event, the Quakers are less than 8 minutes away from reaching the Holy Grail, up on the Sixers who still have 36 to play.

They are REALLY trying hard to blow this lead. And they might succeed.

Now Penn has gone called and has decided to start the parade of turnovers and fouls. Trying to give it away with Navy only cooperating partially.

Yep. Even Navy, if given an uncontested layup in the half court, will likely convert it.

Granted, Navy is bad. But Penn has done what you want, jumping on them and holding a 15-20 point lead. Hicks has made mostly good decisions, the defense has been solid, and the ball movement has looked OK. You could pick at a lot of things, but if this were the only game you'd seen you'd think Penn is OK.

You obviously haven't been watching the whole game.
This "lead" makes me wistful for the days of the four corners.

I mean, even those last two possessions. We can't even milk the clock without turning it over.
But we WIN and all is well for at least one night.
