I've figured out the root of the turnover problem…JA insists on "coaching" their every move on the offensive end. Many of the careless turnovers we have are from our guys staring at Allen trying to see what he wants them to do instead of actually paying attention to what's going on in the game. I've already seen it twice tonight. I wish he would give them more liberty to just play basketball. It's not like what he is telling them to do is working...

That's been happening for years, and a lot of posters have commented on it in the past. Not only does his insistence on talking to the players while play is on result in inattention, it also results in Penn far too often going deep in the shot clock.

It's painful to watch. Not only does he cause a lot of turnovers with the over coaching, but he then proceeds to go crazy on the kids as if it was their fault. I'm so over his sideline antics.

Truth is, Hicks is by far the worst offender on the team when it comes to turnovers.

Losses are good at this point. Just out of curiosity, is this the first ivy weekend there hasn't been a game thread for either game?

It may be. I guess people think it just isn't worth the effort.

This blog is more interesting than the actual games.

Speaking of turnovers…we just committed 3 to give Darmouth the game…WOW. But hey, while I think JA's fate was sealed a couple of games ago, there is no way he stays on after this. This is what we need so HOORAY!

It is…but it's the only way for the team to move on and starting building something new. There are some bright spots here and there in individual play.
I feel bad for Jerome at this point. If he is let go, who is going to hire him? I don't see him getting another opportunity like the one he has now at Penn. And more than anything, I feel for the players. I'm sure this is not what they expected. The players have changed over time, but the one thing that has remained the same is JA's total inability to be a head coach. Last year was a 20 loss season with the predicted talent to go head-to-head with Harvard for a shot at the ivy title. There is no way we could have possibly expected to see any better this year with the inexperienced team we have now. Sorry Jerome…but it's time to move on….

What's even worse is a Yale choke and Harvard pulls off comeback to get back into first. SIGH. The fact that I'd even sort of root for Yale disgusts me. Time for a drink...

Come on, it happened at Princeton's expense.
Now if Princeton had won and Yale and Harvard both lost, that would have gotten me to join you...

Here's how bad it has gotten.
I count only 18 teams (with some games not yet finished tonight) with fewer victories than Penn. EIGHTEEN out of THREE HUNDRED AND FIFTY.
Wait--it gets better. Out of Penn's 7 victories, 3 have come from that mighty list of 18 (Binghamton, Marist, Niagara).

What else are you expecting out of a James Jones team? They cough up games regularly. He got thoroughly out-coached BTW.
I couldn't ever root for Yale while Jones is there. They are regularly the chippiest team in the league, though I think their current team is a bunch of good kids who in general play straight up. Still, his constant whining is annoying. No other coach in the league whines half as much as he does.
