A bit of old news RJ Cole to Howard. The offer list continues to get thin... I wonder if Davis would consider holding a scholarship if they can not get the right piece for the team? I did see that Chris Vogt is still uncommitted.
That's an interesting question. Since the scholarship era began in the Fall of 2002, Bucknell has always used all of its scholarships in the Fall (except perhaps for the HS Class of 2004 when only two scholarships - Griffin and Mastro - were given out). I'm sure the staff will land at least two this Fall, but if they can't find a third who they really like, it might make sense to hold one scholarship.
That wouldn't necessarily mean to wait until the following year but possibly only until the spring. There are always players that emerge during their senior HS years, and it might not be the worst thing to have one scholarship available for that group. Further, Bucknell has never brought in a scholarship transfer - ever - and a main reason is that there have almost never been any scholarships available to bring one in. That is in sharp contrast to American and Colgate, whose frequent transfers out have created room to bring transfers in.

Offer to 6-10 center Walker Miller from the New Hampton School in NH. Verbalcommits.com states that he is from Greensboro, but he played for Albany's City Rocks AAU program and another site says he is from the Syracuse area.
Miller has reported offers from Vermont, Columbia, Dartmouth, Army, Navy, Lafayette, and UNC-Greensboro. His brother is the head coach at UNC-Greensboro, but it appears Miller may be shooting for a better academic school than that.

Edit: I see that he played his first two HS seasons for Greensboro Day, so it appears he is a native of NC. Might possibly have moved recently however.

Interesting offer. A quick search reveals that he recently transferred from Bridgton Academy (ME) to NMH and reclassified to 2018. His father is a Canadian who has played and coached in Japan for many years. I believe his mother may be Japanese. Went to the Canadian Academy in Kobe prior to coming to the States for the 2015-16 academic year. Might have a lot of upside, given his relative inexperience with American basketball.

Bison coach was present at the open gym of Archbishop Wood, north of Philly, presumably to look at one or or more JUNIORS. One possibility is 6-10 center Seth Pinkney, who has offers from St. Joes, UMass, and Coppin State. Another is 6-3 SG Tyree Pickron, who has offers from Drexel, Stony Brook, and Delaware State. A third is 6-6 forward Karrington Wallace, who holds an offer from NJIT. And finally, there is 6-3 SG Andrew Funk, who already has an offer from Lafayette.
Wood also has a senior PG with offers from Maine and Albany, but with the Sotos commitment, I doubt that is the Bison target. Needless to say, Wood should be very good the next two years.

New offer to Nelly Cummings 6-0 PG (PA). Handful of offers including a few from the Ivy, Temple, Bowling Green, RMU
Cummings is from Pittsburgh. Big handful of offers: Temple, Bowling Green, Furman, Mt. St. Mary's, NJIT, St. Francis, Quinnipiac, RMU, Dartmouth, Cornell, Brown.
Cummings commits to Bowling Green. Bucknell was reportedly one of his finalists - but once Sotos committed, his offer presumably was off the table.

Yes, I see that they played in at least one July AAU tournament together .
Miller's hometown of Greensboro is also near the hometowns of Ben Robertson (High Point) and Meeks (Burlington).

New offer to Quentin Millora-Brown, a 6-9 PF/C from Archbisop O'Connell (VA) outside of D.C. He is Class of 2018 and plays in the very tough WCAC. Already has offers from Rice, Towson, and Mt. St. Mary's.

Looks likely that a scholarship will be carried over to the spring signing period - or possibly used for a mid year transfer, although that has never happened at Bucknell.

Staff trying to find that elusive center. A Bison coach was at a HS game in Arkansas looking at 6-8 PF/C Porter Anderson. Judging by his highlight video, he can block shots and rebound - but looks like he has limited offensive skills.
https://twitter.com/ARBballRankings/statu s/8088564...
Also a Bison coach was at powerhouse Mater Dei in California - one of the top teams in the country - although it is hard to tell who was the target. Mater Dei has at least four D1-level juniors/seniors who are available, plus a very good PF already signed by LaSalle:
- Justice Sueing, 6-7 senior forward averaging 16.4 ppg, 5.3 rpg, and 2.3 spg. Only reported offer is from Montana. Seems like he should have more - not sure why. He has played in Arizona, Hawaii, and California.
- Michael Wang, 6-10 junior center averaging 10.4 ppg and 8.3 rpg. offers from Texas A&M, American, San Jose, and Campbell.
- Spencer Freedman, 6-1 junior PG averaging 17.3 ppg and 6.1 apg. Offers from Harvard, USC, Rice, Portland, and several other west coast schools.
- Harrison Butler, 6-6 junior forward averaging just under 9 ppg, 6 rpg, and 4 apg.

There were only three total scholarships available at the start of the year, replacing Oberfeld, Azzinaro, and MacLeay. Two have been used on November signings (Sotos and Meeks), meaning one is still available. With the loss of Ben and DJ, and with Nana being a junior, it seems fairly certain the third will go to a big man.
BU has never brought in a transfer scholarship player - although one big reason is that there has almost never been a scholarship available at transfer time - but I am sure they would consider a center who opted to transfer out of his current program in the next few weeks. In that case, the transfer would become eligible to play on 12/15/17. However if that doesn't happen - and it's unlikely - then I am sure they will get a commitment from a HS center in the next few months. In theory, they could hold the scholarship and look for an April transfer, but that has two negatives: (1) the player wouldn't be eligible until 2018-19, leaving them with no depth next year; and (2) it is a big risk because they might not find a transfer who fits.

One thing I forgot to mention is an explanation of how BU could bring in an immediate transfer when they already have 13 (the max) on scholarship. By declaring that Oberfeld is no longer able to play, his scholarship could be re-categorized as a non-athletic one under NCAA rules, freeing up another one for a new player. I doubt that will happen - but it is possible.
