It is not us being creative that they are worried about, it is all the power 5 schools getting creative that causes the concern. Since they are creative with way more dollars to work with.

From Adam Finkelstein: "ODU, Davidson, UMass, Bucknell, & Boston U among the schools that have reached out about Virginia transfer Jarred Reuter."

Reuter is a 6-8 PF who was rated three stars by all of the recruiting services. He averaged about 15 mpg for Virginia the first half of the season, but saw his minutes fall the second half. Had offers out of HS from at least 10 power conference teams such as Indiana, Florida, Iowa, UConn, etc.

I would love to have a 6'-8" PF from UVA. Would he be a good fit for Bucknell? (a.k.a. Does he value academics?)

Isn't Virginia a pretty darn good academic school in its own right? I'd have to think players from there value academics.

MrPhillie, yes, UVA is a VERY good academic school. That being said, a Duke friend of mine said that many ACC schools are rumored to stretch things a bit if you can hit a 21' J, have a 40" vertical, or are 6'-8" or taller.

I saw an article saying that Reuter was a BMX champion as a kid. Maybe having Woodward nearby will be the difference maker in landing him.

Coach Harrison was in to see Brooks Cluxton 6-8 PF (FL)

Offers from Army, American, and Campbell. A late bloomer, he grew 12 inches since the start of HS

12" since the start of HS sounds like David Robinson like growth. BTW, my younger son grew just over 12" from 12-13. Unfortunately, he went from 4'10" to 5'10.5"!

Offer to Malik Osborne 6-8 210 lb PF (IL) from Don Bosco HS in the Chicago suburbs.

Has offers from Oregon State, William & Mary, Rice, Drexel, East Carolina, Milwaukee, Texas State, and UMKC. He only had one offer, UMKC, before late February. And seven of the offers have come in the last week.

I really enjoy watching the 6'-8", athletic PFs that Bucknell has been able to recruit recently (Bruce Moore and Nate Sestina), but it would be nice to see a true BIG sign. Foulland might as well be 7'-0" tall given the length of his arms and the style of his game. So, I think of him as a BIG. That being said, was Mike Muscala (6'-11") the last player that Bucknell signed who was taller than 6'-9", and why do the Bison seem to have a difficult time signing BIG guys?

In a way, Muscala was the last signee greater than 6-9. I say that because he was "only" 6-9 when they signed him but grew to 6-10 during his senior HS year and then to 6-11 at Bucknell. (Mike was listed at 6-10 his freshman year.)

Having said that, there aren't a lot of guys around who are 6-10 or bigger, and most of the ones in that category aren't any good. In the 28 years starting with the 1990 season, I believe that BU has had eight players who were taller than 6-9: Muscala, McNaughton, Linthicum, Davornin Skornick, Steve Leshinski, Tom Hauser, Terence Skyrm, and Bryan Eisert. And the latter three really didn't play.

Looking at the PL rosters over the past five years - which include eight years of recruits - only American has done well attracting 6-10 players, having rostered three this year: Mark Gasperini, Andrija Matic, and Matt Cimino. Matic is transferring out. They also had 7-0 Gabe Brown for two years, but he transferred out to a D2/D3 school last year after rarely playing. Prior to those guys, they also had Zach Elcano and Tony Wroblicky.

Other teams:

- Army - Kevin Ferguson, Kieffer Jordan, Zach Lord
- Boston - Dylan Haines, Blaise Mgbargorba,
- Colgate - Wyatt Hagerty, Ethan Jacobs, John Brandenburg
- Holy Cross: Matt Husek
- Lafayette: Ben Freeland, Billy Murphy, Nathaniel Musters
- Lehigh: Tim Kempton, Caleb Sedore, Jack Lieb, Josh Wolf
- Loyola: Dylan Gollihar.
- Navy: Jared Smoot

Excluding Bucknell, there are 24 players 6-10 or bigger. Three at some point made some level of All-PL (Wroblicky, Ferguson, and Kempton). Gasperini may have a shot, but it's way too early to tell. Of the rest, maybe 5-6 others were contributors, leaving about 15 who really didn't help much. Fitzpatrick or Sestina - both 6-6 - are better than the great majority of the above big men.

In recent years, more of the very good big men in the PL have been 6-8 or 6-9, e.g. Jared Mintz, Vlad, Stephen Lumpkins, Andrew Keister, Gabe Knutson, Dave Dudzinski, Daniel Trist. If the Bison can find a player as good as those guys for the final scholarship, I'd be very happy.

137, amen to that. I would be extremely happy with any player in the Orange and the Blue who can play at that level.

Wow does time go by quickly. Seems like we were just talking about replacing Muscala/Johnson/Wilman and now we will be talking about replacing Nana/Thomas/Brown. Crazy.

We have a very strong team that's only going to get better. They seem hungry to get back to "the dance" and get beyond the first round.

I'm anxious to see our out of conference schedule for next season. Hopefully, it's as tough or tougher than last year.

Unless the deal is already done and we do not know about it,nobody of "import" will want to have anything to do with us next year. It is not going to be an easy scheduling year for ND.

10-4.

Looks like tournaments will be our only way to get high profile OOC competition then.

I saw on twitter today that this Bruninga kid might want to play baseball as well wherever he ends up signing.

Like Ted Aceto and Pat Flannery! I think there's a more recent name than those that I'm forgetting.
