Based upon what I saw in the last Columbia Princeton game I think Columbia will beat Princeton twice this year. Lo just torched them, and with Rosenberg playing tough inside we should be able to outscore them. We always play Harvard and Yale tough. Our problem seems to be with playing down to the level of teams we should beat and then losing to them.

I'm sure all the Princeton fans will chime in here, but if there is a collection going in on Princeton on this bet, I am in.

I'm surprised by all the low expectations for Harvard. Even without Chambers, their deep store of talent has been the envy of the rest of the League. They have a half season to put it all together. Even if they don't ultimately win the Ivy, they can match anyone.

Because they are not Kentucky. They may well have a deep store of talent, but they don't have NBA ready talent that can beat upperclassman-dominated teams. Most of us have them in the upper 4 and they certainly can win it (as, in my view, can almost everyone but Cornell or Brown). But losing their best two players, who were 2 of the best 3 players in the League (IMO) will hurt.

That's the thing... Harvard's store of talent isn't actually very deep. Amaker's 2012, 2013 and 2014 classes all had some high end talent, but none were particularly deep. He nabbed Siyani, Zena, Chatfield and Egi as guys who had firm offers from multi-bid league schools, but Harvard didn't land much beyond that, especially in 2013 and 2014.

When you look at recruits expected to battle for playing time, Amaker brought in 4 in 2012 and 2 in each of 2013 and 2014. So, when one transfers (Mike Hall) and two more have significant injuries at times (Siyani and Hunter Myers), you get into depth trouble really quickly.

That's what makes the 2016 class so interesting for Amaker. Most of his classes at Harvard were either A) good, deep mid-major classes (2008, 2009, 2012 and 2015) or B) shallow classes with high-end talent (2013, 2014). His 2011 class was the closest thing thus far to a deep class with great top-end talent, and that class went on to make four NCAA appearances. It also papered over the fact that the subsequent three classes weren't nearly at the same level.

Harvard was a bit unlucky for a variety of reasons in losing a handful of guys over the past three years that currently play in multi-bid leagues and would have been key pieces in making another title run this year. Those misses really took all the depth out of the recent Harvard classes.

Boudreaux from Dartmouth might be ROY

And Guilien Smith might be a sleeper for ROY

Can't wait for the season

Interesting quotes from Brase and Lo in today's Spec about playing for the German national team this summer. My guess is that Lo gets Brase's vote for POY after reading the article. anybody who saw the last Columbia Princeton game would be hard pressed to vote Princeton over Columbia. And anybody who saw the two Columbia Yale games would similarly be hard pressed to vote Yale over Columbia.
