Just committed to Penn. Being viewed as a Matt Howard type smallish 3

I haven't been following closely nor am I any kind of expert, but looks like a good mid major recruit based on those offers.

Found a couple of highlight reels:

2015 highlights:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ntFVm9xBRNs

2014 highlights:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=KF_CtztfPOY

As a fan, caveats all aside, have to like what you see in 2015 reel where he shows ability to drive, dunk, and shoot 3's. Don't see much 3 point shooting in 2014 reel so assuming that's new to the arsenal.

For what it's worth also, Holy Cross fans really wanted him. They also point out how sad our board has been (sadly accurate but understandable). They've got a thread from his visit to HC and his commitment to Penn with a lot more activity:

NERR has a Ray Jerome write-up that is pretty glowing:

26th in their NE-only 2016 ranking:

NERR is one of the more accurate recruiting ranking systems out there (most of the local sites seem to beat the national sites, for potentially obvious reasons).

To give a rough sense of where players tend to net out in NERR's ratings historically: Anyone Top 10 in New England should be going to a high-major school and should expect to be a big contributor there. Anyone 11-20 could go high-major, but would be a big star at the mid-major level. 21-40 are guys who would be very good for the Ivies. 41-60 includes guys with a chance to be solid contributors in the Ivies. Anything lower, and the odds are against them at our level - probably should go low-major.

So, AJ Brodeur by NERR's system should be an Ivy star. Ray Jerome is expected to be very good. Those are two very good pieces for the 2016 class.

Very good get for Donahue and staff. Big athletic guard with bounce who can shoot. Jimbo Lull is the next NERR player Penn needs to secure to join Jerome and Brodeur!

Not sure that 26th is his final NERR ranking. That ranking is from early August and it may not reflect some of the many players who reclassify to the New England preps.

That's true. And he could also have a monster year and move up in the rankings.

this is nice. I used to get very taken with recruits and I'm not nearly buying into the hype as I used to with Miller and Jerome, but it seems... "nice".

I'm just excited to have some money to spend with us being so far under the cap as well as a bunch of young draft picks.

Wait, this tank wasn't intentional?

I will say that I've learned to be broadly negative about non-tracked recruits. Usually I'd expect an accidental ranking from ESPN/Rivals, but between the general Mike James optimism and the agita from the Holy Cross board, this seems to be one of those rare situations where a pretty good player fails to get written up.

Mike made me feel good about this recruit, or at least his metric did about how to assess NERR ratings.

That said, HC left me cold. I can't quite tell if a bunch of dedicated fans raving about a player they'd like to have means anything if they're in the Patriot. They almost seemed to be resigned that if we were in they had less of a shot. Must be what an A10 fan would feel if they looked at our board on a recruit.

But interesting to see such an active board for a non premier program.

Holy Cross has won a national championship, unlike any of the Ivies.

Yes, he could have a monster year - although I don't believe NERR comes out with another set of 2016 rankings in April or May, so I don't think his ranking can go up. However I confirmed NERR does come out with new rankings in November that will incorporate a number of transfers into the prep schools. This will be the ranking that will be apples-to-apples with Mr. James's levels. He may stay the same - or even go up a few spots - but he may also drop.

I was actually going to reference that national championship and tie it to our final four and how none of that is particularly relevant anymore.

If one of your recruits only offer is University of San Francisco (or wherever Bill Russell went), are you going to be happy that a national champion wants your guy?

So just to summarize, he may go up he may go down or he may stay the same. Hmmm. Can't argue with that.
And he has an entire season to prove it.

Don't know what that site will do this year but they definitely adjusted their 2015 grads later in the year. I think all the Ivy recruits dropped.
